ApexO Inc. is a company founded in 2005 by Benoit Dufresne. Recognized by the end of the 80s as a passionate and demanding person, Mr. Dufresne has now nearly 35 years experience in computer science, mechanical engineering, ballistics, statistics and ammunition development & industrialization.

By combining its experience and expertise with that of its dedicated team and by working closely with field users, strategic partners and by constantly investing in research and development, APEXO is able to answer a wide range of needs in the realm of ballistics engineering and high-quality custom solutions.

The first objective of ApexO was to develop a ballistics simulator to meet the needs of snipers who were not answered by any product available on the market. The AFS® (ApexO Firing System) was therefore developed and right from its first version, it exceeded the expectations of the users. Twenty years later, the AFS® (ApexO Firing System) is still recognized as the most complete, intuitive and accurate ballistics simulator on the market.

In addition to being globally recognized for its AFS® sniper system, ApexO's consulting services have been used internationally for more than two decades by various defense and security organizations and companies. ApexO's expertise in ballistics and statistics have been exhaustively put to contribution all along the effort of the NATO Team of Experts (TOE) on the 40mm Grenades.

2005

After spending more than 15 years in mechanical engineering with the last 10 years developing, testing and industrializing ammunition at SNC Technologies (today known as General Dynamics OTS Canada), M. Dufresne decided to found ApexO at the end of 2005.

2006

ApexO won a contract as a consultant for US Army ARDEC to reintegrate the NATO Team of Experts on the 40mm LV ammunition to develop the related STANAG and MOPI. Mr. Dufresne was an active member of that team since 2000, when he worked at SNC Technologies.

2007

After nearly 2 years developing its proprietary algorithms for its sniper system, ApexO saw its first version of its AFS “ApexO Firing System” being fielded for the first time with Special Forces unit. The accuracy of the AFS® V1.0, mounted on a small Windows Mobile HP PDA device, was surpassing any other product on the market.

2010

The AFS® V2 is released and fielded following impressive R & D efforts. Mounted on an Archer Rugged PDA (and on a PC Version), the level of precision and intuitivity reached by this V2.0 is again surpassing the competition.

2011

The AFS V2.0 is exhibited in Europe for the first time at MILIPOL. It automatically captured the attention of the international sniper community, which allowed ApexO to win in 2012 its first contract with NAMSA and with European Special Forces units. The AFS has been selected over 25 other calculators, mainly for its accuracy but also for its intuitivity and features.

2015

ApexO innovated with its V3, which brought the AFS to be selected among the best Canadian Innovation in the “Build in Canada Innovation Program (BCIP)”. All Canadian Sniper Battalions have been equipped with some AFS V3 and trained with it. The same year, the full podium of the “Canadian International Sniper Concentration (CISC)” was occupied by AFS users. The .50cal challenge was also won by users of the AFS® V3.

2016

After succeeding in Canada and Europe with their precedent AFS® version, ApexO completed the development of its new version that now includes its proprietary “aeroballistics profiler”. This new AFS® V4 allowed ApexO to win its first contract in Asia.

2017

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the AFS, ApexO launched its V5.0, which was now based on Android Operating System and compatible with the new version of the AFS® Desktop PC version.

2018

APEXO INC. announced a contract award with the “Ministère des Armées” (France) for its state-of-the-art AFS® ballistics simulation system.

2019

ApexO's AFS ® technology as well as its ballistics expertise is evaluated and chosen by various major players of the industry, as well as by sniper units.

2020

After 15 years of climbing the highest peaks in the field of defense and security, ApexO sets out to conquer the sports shooting market by creating Ultimate Ballistics. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, Ultimate Ballistics won on its first appearance at a King of 1 Mile competition.

2021

After several months of effort, the FN Elity®, using ApexO's AFS® technology, was launched by FN Herstal. At the same time, the French army chooses the AFS® for its snipers. The technology will be integrated by SAFRAN into the Scorpion Dismounted Soldier Combat Information System (SICS-D).

2023

APEXO is increasing its footprint in Europe with the opening of its subsidiary APEXO EUROPE SAS in France. In parallel, ApexO in partnership with SAFRAN Electronics & Defence received a second contract with the French Army who renewed their trust in ApexO for providing their long range snipers with the ApexO's AFS®.

2024

APEXO is launching the AFS® Command Center, a fully integrated sniper coordination system for police and army squad. At the same time, ApexO is launching its new website which includes various high quality products from ApexO's valued partners.
